What is prediabetes?
Prediabetes is a health condition that occurs before diabetes. In this condition, you have a higher blood sugar level than normal.

A1C is a test to measure blood sugar levels. The test is also called hemoglobin A1C or HbA1c test. So, don’t be confused here.
The a1c test is used to measure the average blood sugar levels of the last three months. This test is most commonly used to diagnose type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Also, a1c is the test to identify prediabetes. A higher A1c level means you have a greater chance of developing type 2 diabetes.

Prediabetes a1c test is a very simple test. The test can be done in-home or doctor’s lab. The choice is yours.
Prediabetes range a1c measures the average blood glucose level for the last three months. It is defined by the percentage of glycated sugar in your blood.
A higher a1c level is equal to high blood pressure. There are three levels of the a1c test. A1c percentage between 5.7 to 6.4 is considered prediabetes.
This range is also known as prediabetes range a1c.
There is no such term as prediabetes range fasting. It’s a normal blood test without the requirement of fasting.
Your fasting blood sugar may not be the same as your overall blood sugar level. Prediabetes A1c test measures the average blood sugar level of the past 3 months.

A1c goals by age
The 2021 ADA standard released the a1c goals. We are going to discuss the major ones here.
For healthy older adults with few chronic illnesses and intact cognitive functions should have a lower a1c than the 7.0-7.5% range.
The range differs slightly for seniors with multiple chronic illnesses and cognitive impairment. In this case, the a1c goal should be below the 8.0-8.5% level.
The a1c level below 7% should be appropriate for many children. For patients with hypoglycemia unawareness, the a1c recommended goal is below 7.5%.
If the patient has a history of severe hypoglycemia, a1c goal below 8% is ok. The goal is 7.5% for patients with an increased risk of hypoglycemia.
A1c goal is below 7% for children and adults with type 2 diabetes. A more strict target for this purpose is less than 6.5%.
For youths with marked hyperglycemia, the goal is greater than or equal to 8.5%. The a1c goal is less than 8.5% for metabolically stable patients.
A1c goals for pregnant women
For preexisting diabetes, a pregnant woman’s a1c goal should be below the 6.0-6.5% range. It will reduce the rate of adverse fetal outcomes.
A1c goal below 6% has the lowest chance for large-for-gestational-age infants. Considering all of these facts we can say that below 6% is the perfect goal for pregnant women.
This may be an optimal target if achieved without hypoglycemia.
Prediabetes range a1c is the warning sign for everyone who is prone to diabetes. You should check the range every three months to save yourself from diabetes.
You can easily stop type 2 diabetes by controlling your lifestyle. After a diagnosis of prediabetes, you should try to eat low-carb foods. Also, you need to do some exercises.
